Weight loss effects could help improve obstructive sleep apnea in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and a BMI =25 kg/m2, say researchers of the Sleep AHEAD (Action for Health in Diabetes) study.Obstructive sleep apnea, the most frequent form of sleep-disordered breathing, is characterized by repetitive cycles of partial (hypopnea) or complete (apnea) collapse of the pharyngeal airway.
